Rezonance is very honured to collaborate with Phocos for this year's Orange Shirt Day design. You might recognize Phocos (Willis) as your local, neighbourhood, Crouch Library art and t-shirt selling guy. Willis is without a doubt a staple in our (east London) community having been selling his wares street side for years. His style is rooted in the traditions and customs of his people - The Sto:lo. A west coast style, let's continue to make Willis feel at home here in London.
A few words from our guy Willis:
This art piece is called Protector of family. The Thunderbird portrayed here represents the Guardian spirit that overlooks the well being of the family. Inside the chest of the Thunderbird is a Sea Wolf. It has the body of an Orca and head of a Wolf with fangs. These are both recognized as very family oriented as they live and hunt with their Wolf packs and Killer Whale pods for life. In the wings of the Thunderbird are Humpback Whales that represent our elders and their teachings through the generations. In the tail feathers of the Thunderbird are the children represented by baby Eaglets. These are protected most and are taught the teachings of their elders.
